I want to connect a removable and recessed LED fixture to a fixed circuit box above a suspended ceiling in a commercial building. The cord will be 5 ft long and is spt-1 and 18/3 gauge.
does this violate the nec 240.5(b)(2) or 402.3
pin other words, is this legal, and safe ?

Does article 400 have any restrictions on your application?

Can you even use 18ga when it is not manufacturer supplied conductors on a listed device?

You cannot used lamp cord for that purpose. Sounds like you are using it from a recessed fixture to a jb. No go....Use mc cable or nm if allowed

You cannot run the cord above the dropped ceiling.
