Does anyone know what the requirement for use of Hospital Grade Bx cable for emergency power in non clinical/support service areas within a hospital setting (ie. a hospital police station)?
I've read 517.30(C)(3) and my interpretation is that when serving emergency receptacles/lighting it is not allowed unless fished into existing ceilings & walls.

Per the pure unadulterated wording of 517.30(C)(3) you are correct.

If you are using the HCFC for fixture whips you might get by with it, it is accepted for whips on Critical and Life Safety lighting here.
