I am remodeling a small private school and nursing home. I wanted to verify what I was told. I was told that MC is to be used for the emergency lighting exit signage to connect the power from an existing wall outlet, thus replacing the small whip cords presently being used. Is this correct? and where do I find the rule concerning this?

MC is fine, I can't tell you where it says it in the code becuse it does not say it. But more importantly the NEC does not say you can't use MC.

As far as the circuit you are connecting them too see 700.12(F)
