Can't be used inside period.338.10 (B) BRANCH CIRCUITS OR FEEDERS ?
You asked about USE, not SE. They are not the same product. See 338,12(B).338.10 (B) BRANCH CIRCUITS OR FEEDERS ?
I've never used USE, is there a reason why we even have this stuff and not require all USE to be dual rated?Note that some conductors carry a dual rating such as USE/RHW in which case they can be installed as either insulation allows.
It is used all the time on farms and other places like that and the dual rated costs more. The local supply house does not even stock the dual rated.I've never used USE, is there a reason why we even have this stuff and not require all USE to be dual rated?
I'm willing to bet that in most of those farm applications the non dual rated cable is run inside anyway even though it is not permitted. It is used all the time on farms and other places like that and the dual rated costs more. The local supply house does not even stock the dual rated.
You also have to be careful with aluminum USE, as, if not dual marked, is permitted to use the AA-1350 aluminum alloy and not AA-8000 series that is required for the dual rated USE and all other aluminum conductors we use.
Part of it is, but most of it would direct burial.I'm willing to bet that in most of those farm applications the non dual rated cable is run inside anyway even though it is not permitted.
