I'd like to connect several 208 volt, single phase AC units (all air handlers / evaporators) to an existing 120/208 volt, 3 phase distribution board that has several spare 3 pole, 30 amp disconnect switches.

Since the AC units are single phase, am I allowed to only use 2 of the 3 poles in the spare switches? or are they UL listed to only feed 3 phase loads?

The other option would be to run a 3 phase feeder from the spare switch to each of the units and branch off to the single phase AC units from this feeder... but I'd like to know if the above is allowed.

Thanks!

There is no problem with your using two poles of any 3 pole disconnect.
(Some manufacturers no longer offer two pole disconnects..if you order one you will get a 3 pole)
