using 4/0 SER in conduit

I just noticed your in Indiana.
You don't even need conduit as long as it is not likely to get damaged. Just run it exposed.
I always use conduit , but alot of Indiana electricians run it exposed..
Yeah we run SE exposed all the time. That's what the stuff is for. Seems like everyone and their brother is running SE cable in conduit which just seems silly and convoluted to me.

Why run it conduit, its a short distance and it doesn”t need to be.
Seen that some jurisdictions won't allow SE to be run exposed on exterior of buildings.
Seems sleeving with a straight run of conduit would be a means to allow for an extended run without making a transition splice. Conditional requirement is that it be treated like NM in such instance and not allowing or limited allowance for removal of sheathing, (Not with bare neutral). per 338.10(B)(4)(a)(1) requirement that the SE cable be treated per 334 part II except 334.80. Requirement that sheath be intact at-least by 1/4" into the enclosure (not a raceway).
