I have a neighbor running 3/0 aluminum wire to feed a 150 amp panel for his shed. Will the inspector have an issue with using a #6 copper ground wire. ?
If you are asking whether there is a problem with pairing a copper grounding conductor with aluminum circuit conductors, the answer is no.I have a neighbor running 3/0 aluminum wire to feed a 150 amp panel for his shed. Will the inspector have an issue with using a #6 copper ground wire. ?
I've never done it, but can you use aluminum to a ground rod? Would you use #4 instead of #6 Cu?
Can't have a Al GEC touching the earth, but you can use it for a water bond or building steel bond.
Make sure to use a bonding clamp rated for aluminum conductor. They are not so rare that that you should have a hard time finding them though.I think I'm going to start doing that. The water bond, I mean.
