Can you use the clamp on a hot 120volt line? New to this equip. In the box it says more than 50 volts will damage unit. I tried the power source and the needle was bouncing to much to get a clear signal. I'm trying to locate the depth of a live utility line.

Are you clamping on with the inductive clamp? I do it all the time. The >50 volts will damage the machine if you connect thedirect connect clips to fault locate onto a hot wire.

Go ahead,, ask me how I know that...:ashamed:
