Using a long power cord to run my garage...?

I salvaged a 50-foot 8/4 cord we formerly used to power a portable floor grinder. It is copper-stranded and in good shape. Can I use this cable to run power to my new detached metal garage? I'd bury PVC from the house and use a new 100A breaker box inside the garage. Only powering LED lights on Circuit #1 & 5 Outlets on Circuit #2. Nothing else. I would rather use one of my salvaged big cables than buy new. Thoughts/ Ideas?

That said, it’s a code violation to use portable cord in lieu of permanent wiring methods. It’s not listed for that purpose.
