I'm having a challenge...I was asked the simple question "my 3rd floor addition was installed with Aluminum wiring in Chicago...is this code compliant?". I realize that the Chicago Electrical Code differs from the NEC, but it does parallel it nicely now...so my question is...Where does it state in the NEC that aluminum conductors are permitted for branch wiring? I have found in 110.5 tha conductors shall be of copper unless otherwise provide in this Code. Problem is, I haven't found where it's "otherwise provided" for anything south of service entrances. Can anyone lend a hand?
Thanks very much!
