Using ceiling grid as support of fixtures

Can a ceiling grid be used as means of support for 2'X2' lay-ins? The ceiling grid is not rivited to side angle supports.

Where are you located? It depends on the seismic design category you are located in (2000 IBC 1621.2.5). Odds are that you will need to have 2 wires supporting it.

410.16(C) explains the ceiling requirements as far as the NEC is concerned.
