Using SOW thru Wall for Low Voltage-Code Clarification (Canada)

I would like to tie 2 tank alarms (one exterior, one interior) together through the wall using SOW. The current would be 8-9VDC. I was told this would not work because of section 4-012(3), but the scope of section 4-000 states that the section applies to conductors for lighting, appliance, and power supply circuits and does not apply to other conductors except when reference in other sections of the code.

Since the SOW is not a power supply circuit and I am not sure whether a tank alarm would be considered an appliance, does this section apply?

Thanks!

Under the NEC, your installation would fall under:

ARTICLE 725— CLASS 1, CLASS 2, AND CLASS 3 REMOTE-CONTROL, SIGNALING, AND POWER-LIMITED CIRCUITS

Class 1 wiring methods are subject to Article 300 and use Chapter 3 wiring methods. SOW cord is not a Chapter 3 wiring method.

Class 2 and 3 circuit wiring methods are either installed in a Class 1 manner or in accordance with 725.133 and 725.154.

In short, SOW is not an approved method for an Article 725 installation.

How these correlate to the CEC, I do not know.
