utilization equipment/appliance or industrial machinery?

Is an electric motor driven air compressor package considered by the NEC as "utilization equipment (appliance)" or as "industrial machinery"?

From what I have read. I believe they fall under the "utilization equipment/appliance" category.

Article 100 defines utulization equipment and it would include industrial machinery.

670.2 defines industrial machinery and requires the processing of materials. Processing air would be more than a stretch in my opinion.
