VA Master Exam

I'm preparing to take the Virginia Master Electrician exam this summer and wanted to know if anyone out there has take this exam recently. Looking for a little insight as to what I can expect.:)

One question I have is regarding what version of the NEC is used for the exam. If you look at the PSI Canidate Information Bulletin it states the use of the NEC2002 code book for the exam. It's worded in such a way that I can't determine if I'm allowed to use a later version NEC or if I need to now purchase an NEC2002 code book.

It appears to me that you can only use the 2002 edition of the NEC. PSI's candidate information bulletin states that later references may be used, except for code questions- all code questions will be based on the 2002 NEC. BTW- I read in one of your previous post that you are working on getting licensed in as many states as possible. Therefore, you will need code books from 1993-2008, depending on the state. I also am licensed in many states, and 1993 is the oldest that I have been tested on so far.

Wow, I thought 2002 was unbelievable. Looks like NFPA will be making a few more bucks off my company...What states have you encountered code books being used that are prior to the 2002 code book?

The most recent state that I can remember is Louisiana- which unbeliveably is still testing on the 93 code. I looked a 93 code everywhere, and the only place to find one was NFPA. You can find a good used 96 & 99 codebook on ebay or amazon books much cheaper. I can't remember the other states, but as best as I recall, there were quite a few still on the 96 & 99. It seems I use the 2002 & 2005 more than any others (they are the only ones that I have tabs in).
