I may need to a do a bit of value engineering for a project. Many projects I have been involved in do include producing an engineering style rough cost estimate and general cost considerations, but I understand value engineering is a topic of its own. My main concern is, should a study like that be needed, if there is a typically used and accepted format or approach that is used or is it pretty much a freestyle study/report written per the designer's and client's preference? I know it's a pretty broad question, but I'm just trying to get an idea - all thoughts and comments are much appreciated.
