Bathroom vanity double sinks.Cabinet lady wants a receptacle in a drawer for hair dryers et.The problem I see and with talking to the inspector is a type of cable rated to be stretched and contracted for the application. The second issue is turning off the plug when you close the drawer for fire safety. There is a product I seen call a Docking drawer receptacle wwwDocking drawer.com.There has been a timer brought up for this purpose.(Fire Safety that is) What have you guys been doing out there.

Receptacles behind drawers in the bath room just make sure their GFCI protected. The appliance used is not under the AHJ jurisdiction IMHO. As far as a switch to disconnect power to the receptacle, Yes install one in a convenient location.

just curious

just curious

Why would you have to shut power off to the receptacle in the drawer, is it so bobby pins don't bounce into the receptacle face????
Whats differant than a receptical in cabinet for microwave.

Agree mount the wall recept behind the drawer. How they connect to the appliance is not controlled by the NEC. Does not eliminate the basin recpt requirement though.

I have seen the picture of the receptacle in the back of a drawer on Pintrest this is probably where she got the idea from.
I haven't done one but did wonder what I would do if confronted with that request. I guess use a coiled seow cord ( but I don't think it could be used in a permanent wiring fashion) so I've convinced myself to do it as others have stated, put it in the back of cabinet and then it's outside of the scope of NEC.

There is a listed device to install a receptacle in a drawer, the dockingdrawer.com as mentioned earlier, seems like a code compliant way to go.
