How do you organize and keep track of inventory in service vehicles? Do you have a chesklist of items and restock from the list weekly or daily? Computerized inventory program?

I know that the bigger franchises (ESI, NexStar) like a bar code thing-a-ma-jig. I just keep a tablet to write down what I used off the truck, to restock the next morning. If you do service calls, the truck stock is your LIFE! Keep on top of it! You can't sell what you don't have.

So you must have a master list or system of some kind to know which items you carry on the trucks and how many of each item you have.

Yes.
Each job (daily) has a "time sheet" where we write down what work we do, back side we list material. Take all the time sheets at end of day and fill out a "restock" sheet. Turn it all in at the shop, next morning the material is waiting for you. (Unless the shop guys are goofing off again  )

I have bins & shelves
When I see shelves empty & know something is missing
When I see bins low I refill them
Keep the paper work down to a minimum or you'll need a staff of 5 just to do what you or your crew should do.
Its just common sense.
Dimmers, devices, fittins, breakers, ballast, wire, nuts & bolts & screws, light sockets, meter replacement parts, etc.
Its not that tough. If you ever have to leave a job to go get a part your not stocked properly. (Light fixtures excluded)
Once in a while look thru it all very carefully & see what you have inventoried that you never get a call for & remove it to make room for something else.

Gets a little tougher for me. I need a master list. I keep over 600 unique part numbers on the truck.

I actually use most of your list MD. I deleted some and added some but found it to be a tremendous help and with gas prices the way they are I can't afford to have guys running around all the time.

I think it's been a couple years since I posted a truck stock list anyplace. If you have one of my old one's, the new one is surely different.

I can't remember where I found it but it was simple text from a-z I redid it a little but mainly used it as a stock guide and then replenished it as used by the notes on the trucks. About once a month I have to go through them myself and make my own list again but it helped out a lot at that time so thanks.... PM me if you want to share your new one LOL....
