Perhaps I am making a mountain out of a mole hill here but I'm not sure that the actual "loop" wiring is permitted in a Major Repair Garage saw-cut into the concrete floor. The reason that I have doubt is that nothing on the equipment attached to the "loop" has any instructions or listing information regarding suitability for this application. The intended function of the loop detector is to open overhead vehicle doors as vehicles approach.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks, Pete

If there is no dispensing involved [Art 511 only], I wouldn?t be too concerned. Properly applied, the mastic used to seal the loop wiring into the floor is a legitimate basis for establishing that the loop is outside the Division 2 location.

With dispensing, I?d have to give it a lot of thought; that puts the location under Article 514 and the oddball requirements of Section 514.8.
