We have a vehicle mounted generator that supplies power to a THOR conveyor. The wire from the THOR is hard wired directly to the generator. Do we need to add ground plates or ground rods to the generator since it is its own power source and internally grounded to the frame?

Don't know what a THOR is, but if the equipment is hard-wired to the gen (not cord/plug connected), you do need a GES (see 240.34(B)). Many consider this a bit of a grey area, but it's usually easier to drive a rod or two than argue with the AHJ about it.

You always need a EGC from equipment to generator, and depending on size/distance, the conveyer might need it's own GES.
