Has anyone figured out exactly what causes nuisance tripping for vending machines on GFCI's? I called a local Pepsi vendor and he had no idea what causes the problem, only that there is nothing wrong with his machines when he goes to inspect them. Each of the sources I looked at online said something different for the cause, but nothing concrete. Is there any work around for the nuisance tripping?

IMO, if the gfci is tripping then there is an issue with the machine unless there is something else downstream that is causing it. If exposed to the weather perhaps rain is getting in.

I agree with Dennis. GFCIs are pretty hardy these days.

Yes, it could be bad, but I tend to look at appliances first these days. GFCIs are the norm for construction sites and you will find that they hold up well given the abused equipment plugged into them.
