What would be an acceptable method to confirm the bonding of the pool deck, metalic structural components and electrical equipment per 680-26 of a 30 year-old pool? Is using a simple analog ground resistance tester using a point to point method the way to go? The points we could check would be at the pump motor, ladders and other metalic structures. Are there any other methods? Obviously the rebar mat is not exposed. I would appreciate any input. Thanks

An ohmmeter will give you all the information you can get.

Is there any specific event that requires this confirmation? 30 years is a pretty good track record.

I understand there was two fatalities nationwide, associated with swimming pools, last year. These were both from people grabbing a radio while in the pool.

There was an un related event that has prompted this. Also the inspector noticed that the bond required to the motor frame from the deck grid is missing.

Bonding (shorting) is to prevent two objects from having a different potential. When there is no other object associated with the pool, within reach, I do not see any point in bonding the pump motor. The motor should be connected to an equipment ground conductor.

This is not by the code interpretation it is my opinion.
