Vertical Cable Support Distance

Our installation calls for a vertical cable run of 5300' in a mine shaft. Table 300.19(A) specifies a maximum distance for #3/0 cable to be 80' with the exception of steel wire armor cable. We are using an Airguard cable (made by Prysmian). This is not a steel wire armor cable but our electrical lead said the cable we are using is exempt also. Can anyone provide verification one way or another with additional reference.

I don't believe the NEC applies to Mines however someone else may have more info.

Dennis is right. MSHA inspectors and mine electricians don't take orders from the NEC.
