Vertical Feeders

Just wondering on the different techniques everyone is using to to control and eliminate feeders from running away while pulling down long vertical runs.
 
Over the years I've seen various methods ranging from braking systems made from lumber with holes drilled in it, ropes and pulleys, elbows mounted to the floor with the cables run through them, etc. We typically pull up and do not drop heavy conductors on vertical runs. Years ago someone in our company was seriously injured when the braking system failed and the cable went down the conduit on it's own. The reel was ripped off of the jack stands flew across the floor and struck the electrician.

Any photos Of these make shift braking systems? Years ago we lost a set of 350mcm and it wasn’t pretty, thankfully no one got hurt.
 
And don't forget about 300.19 if you are going up very far.

I agree with pulling up and recomend installing a cable support at the enclosure while the conductors are still attached to the tugger.
