After watching Ken Burns'-The War, we all need to take a moment to think about what being a veteran really means.

I for one have a much greater understanding of human sacrifice for a just cause.

Well said .. I think of the actively serving members every day,.. I am grateful to those among us who have served and I also think of all those white crosses and stars in such nice neat rows marking the spot in foreign soil where an American soldier lies in rest and how hard that must be for those at home.
 
Well said all. As a non-combat veteran (USAF), I also appreciate the courage required to commit to serve to protect the lives and freedoms of people unknown to you.

The support system of the service goes way beyond the military, too. A good portion of the civilian workforce also plays a large part in the defense of justice and freedom.

I also am a non-combat vetran, who served in Viet Nam (USN).
Freedom is a flavor, the Protected never taste.

I just wanted to also thank all my fellow veterans. I read recently were 1 in 4 homeless are veterans! God Bless You!! And thank you for your service to our great nation! And I pray that we will never forget the sacrifices that you have made! James 1:12.. you will receive the "crown" of life.
