VFD making noise

VFD is making noise, we tried increasing carrier frequency but it still makes noise.

Any idea how to reduce the noise? Apartment above the room is annoyed by the noise

It's a yaskawa p1000. They suggested modifying carrier frequency which I did but still makes the noise. Maybe it's something internal with the VFD or the way it's mounted
 
Did the noise change in pitch when you changed the carrier frequency?

IMHO the carrier frequency noise is mostly heard at the motor; I think this is something other than audible switching noise.
 
I was too late to hear the noise. But the carrier frequency and noise reduction are for reducing noise in the motor, not the drive itself.

  1. Was it running fine and the noise started with no other changes having taken place? If so, then it is likely the first early indicators of a failing component.
  2. If something changed, what was it?
  3. Does it only happen at a particular frequency output or range? Or is it constant whenever the VFD is running?
  4. Or does it make noise just by being powered up?

Add on, Noisy cooling fan or change in sound from cooling fan on the drive?

Many drives allow constant fan or only run when needed. But you still not likely doing much about what noise they make when running other than when they are aged and making more noise than before.

Too late to edit. Some older drives had constant fan only and can be rather loud all the time. Some newer drives can vary the fan speed as needs demand.
