VFD Splice STP

Situation: existing shielded pair too short to reach new vfd terminals. Obvious solution: pull new stp. Alternative solution and question: install terminal block inside the new drive, splice existing stp with new. The new run of stp will be much shorter, just inside the drive, than running the full lenght. Is the splice permitted per NEC?

This is probably a class 2 circuit. Most of the rules found in the earlier chapters don't apply.
