We are going to suspend a plasma screen in our computer room and the images on it will be delivered over a VGA or DVI cable connected to a PC. The PC will be located in the computer room and the cable will have to be run above the drop ceiling (plenum) and this plenum is used for environmental air.

I am aware of what the NEC states regarding environmental air spaces (300.22) but I'm unsure if Article 725, 800 or others apply to this type of cable run.

My question is this...Do we need to run a plenum rated VGA/DVI cable or can it be a non-plenum rated cable?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Re: VGA Cable in Plenum

for what it's worth I agree with Wayne. EMT or plenum-rated cable. Have a feeling it would be less bother to install the conduit than to find a plenum-rated cable assembly, but that's a guess.
