I'm looking for some ideas on how to install a 4" or 5" recess, remodel, luminaire in a vinyl soffit. This is over the front door of a SFD. There is a surface mounted luminaire in place now which will not allow for a screen door to be installed.

As always, thanks in advance.

Remove as much vinyl as you need to, put some nailers in, put in a new work can and have the vinyl guys come in after you to do their thing. Remember......we are genius's, not magicians.

It can be done but you will need be carefull as to where support can be found. Use a new work can and remove soffit carefully. Plan on a trip or 2 to BIG ORANGE and allow a few hours into price. If they cant deal with it costing $300 to $500 then just back off because it will not be fun or easy.

You can say that again, but as they say, "if it was easy everybody would be able to do it".
