I don't see a problem with it.
So receptacles, switches, and luminaires are prohibited from the shower space, but other electrical equipment is fine? I guess that makes sense, and it would be OK to have, say, a TV there, say, assuming you could power it from a receptacle outside the shower space.

If this were say a commercial kitchen (with all that tile and a floor drain) and was washed down regularly, wouldn't the hazards be about the same, plus the added cooking appliances and such?

Luminaires are not prohibited from shower space, though certain types of luminaires are. Luminaires don't even have any general requirement to be GFCI protected by NEC in a shower space. Some may have instructions to be protected though. NEC doesn't mention appliances in this sort of space that I am aware of. One thing that couldn't be there is a through the wall HVAC unit with cord and plug supply and the receptacle inside the shower space.

Certainly much better than placing a baseboard heater in said space.

I don't see it as a violation, but, If it is, it missed many steps of the electrical inspection process.

Who says you can't have a TV in the shower?

At our age, may God have mercy on anyone who might look in our windows :)
When your neighbors start asking what time your wife is taking a bath then you'll know there's a problem. Then it's time to install smoked glass or Aquatex.

I was doing a project some 20 years ago through a rehab organization - upgrading things in a house for a deaf man (dead his entire life)that was ~80 years old, it got new heating, siding, insulation, some interior walls and ceiling work, etc. Guy was retired farmer and like many learned how to make things work over the years, regardless what it takes. I recall he filled bath during this project and placed submersible livestock tank heaters in the tub to heat the water (he took them out before he got in). But the funny thing is one day he showed me a note his next door neighbors wrote, wish I could remember how it was worded but was clever and somewhat polite yet made the point - lets just say he had no curtains/shades on his bathroom window at the time
