Wondering if my voltage drop is right, and what wire size you would use. Feeder conductors feeding a 30amp subpanel 120/240v single phase 230 feet away, copper conductor. I'm coming up with a #3 conductor as a feeder for the sub panel. would this be correct. or any ideas on how any one would deal with this. thanks

Re: volatage drop

Peter's right. Voltage drop depends entirely on two factors.

Resistance and Current

Vd = IR

First, I'd use the Vd calculator at: http://www.electrician.com/vd_calculator.html because it's easy and I'm lazy. :)

Re: volatage drop

The 30amp subpanel is going to have
1) 12amp pool pump
2) 50 watt pool light
3) outdoor lamp post (load unknown for future)
4) most pond motor for landscaping load unknown for future)
5) gazeebo lights (load unknown for future)
6) about 4 Rec. for general purpose.

yeah #3 conductor just seems alittle crazy, but i've seen worse. thanks
