Does anyone know what the British Code says as far the Min. Volt Amp load for each outlet or multible outlets for a office building (General Use). The voltages here are 380/220 volt in Iraq and the design Engineer want to use 90Volt amps for his calculations instead of 180 Volt Amps.

In the states we use 180VA @ 120V if you have 220/380 (220X1.732) divide that in half, (higher volts, less current) I would say he is using the standard 180 but because of the 220 "usable" its cut in half to 90VA

Volt amps = watts
raising voltage does not change watts needed per item
double voltage and you have half the amps
if he is trying to have the same wattage then he has not done so.

makes as much since as customers wanting to put water pumps on 240 cause it uses less electric and sadly many really believe it.

Will you be using British socket outlets?
Normally, these are rated at 13A.
The plug is three pin, live neutral and ground. The plug has an internal fuse on the live side.
The applicable British Standard is BS1363 and the fuses are to BS1362.

The British wiring regs say nothing about outlet density, as that is a design issue. YOU have to make that call. So if you want to use 90VA then that's OK by the British regs. However... buildings wired under the British regs tend to have fewer outlets than those under the American way (probably because there's no rule about how far sockets have to be apart) and thus the sockets are typically loaded more highly, often with adapters and power strips.

The British regs also don't describe what any NEC electrician will know as calculated loads, there's no tables and stuff, again YOU need to make that determination.

The British regs tell you about the safety stuff: what sorts of sockets to use, and where you can't put them (mostly to do with bathrooms and next to sinks etc).
