Has anyone tried to use the volt tic type testers on the TR receptacles?

Yeah, you have to stick a screwdriver in one side and the tester in the other.
Take the plate off and use the tester

Yea, I just used some on a recent job, found it easier to just use a polarity tester.

Another difficulty I found is checking voltage from hot to ground, you have to push both test leads into the hot and neutral sides, then pull out the neutral lead to go to ground.
