voltage drop

Can we tap a bigger size of wire to an existing smaller size of wire to satisfy voltage drop requirements. For example a #2 awg to a 1/0 cable. If it is ok, is this acceptable based on industry standards?

Yes providing the # 2 AWG OCPD is within limits like a 100-amp breaker, and listed for the putpose like a "H" or "C" tap. I have seen it done many times, especially in DC applications
