I'm runnung a 20 amp circuit 250 feet. Should I use 6 or 8. I been going by 6 but now that I think about it, I think I could get away with 8! What do you think?

It is dependent on the connected load, the voltage and how much VD you can live with.

Assuming a full 20 amp load at 120 volts 8 AWG would result in 6.5% VD, 6 AWG would result in 4% either is more than the recommended 3%.

Re: Voltage drop

Need to know the voltage and the amps.
If it's 120v and you need the full 20 amps you would need # 4 copper.

Re: Voltage drop

I think there are more things that need to be addressed...

What's the voltage? 120/208, 480/277, or 347/600 (probably not)??

What type of conduit or cable?

Single pole or 2 pole?

Here's a guess...

If it's 120V with EMT or MC.... #4

If it's 277V with EMT OR MC.... #8, but would go for #6.

If it's 480V .... #10

If it's 208V .... #6

With the info you gave, that's the best I can do...sorry :)
