I'm looking for any and all suggestions as to how best(i.e. most cost effective/efficient)to get 60 amps 240 volts single phase 1200 feet thanks i look forward to hearing from you all
Using the higher voltage is the answer just as Bob said. I would be interested in the cost of 2 transformers and 1200 ft of 3# 2cu as opposed to 1200 ft of 2#300 cu + #? neutral.
The load is really 60 amps and 5% voltage drop is tolerable if we boost the voltage we will have to step it back down i am i correct ? because my calculations show a voltage loss of around 71 volts ?
We did this last year with two transformers. We wanted the smallest current (for lowest voltage drop) so we used one transformer to go from 240-600V and a second transformer to go from 600-120/240. For 60A at 240V single phase you would need 15KVA units.
