Voltage stabilizer

I am installing a machine that has asked either for voltage stabilizer or a regulated isolation transformer. My quick online searched turned out that they are two different things.

If I am understanding this correctly in a nut shell: A stabilizer will keep the voltage at a constant +- %, where an isolation transformer has the primary and secondary windings separate (i.e. dry type transformer)

Why would the instructions ask for either a stabilizer or regulated isolation transformer?

You left out the word "regulated" modifying isolation transformer.
The stabilizer may use tap changes on an autotransformer, while the regulated isolation transformer uses tap changes on an isolation transformer.
One other alternative is a constant voltage transformer that uses a tuned ferro-resonant circuit with a saturating core to produce a regulated output without discrete steps.

So a stabilizer with an auto transformer is not really an isolation transformer. Correct?
