Hey all...
Am taking Residential exam on Saturday. I've taken various online tests, and I believe I have a pretty good grasp of navigating the code. I was doing the Lasergrade practice test and I noticed one of the questions had to do with capacitive reactance, microfarads etc.. I have the exam content outline from the L&I website, and was wondering if anyone has taken the residential test recently or has knowledge of it. If so...how in depth does it go as far as formulas/theory are concerned. I've got the basics (Ohm's law, series, parallell) down pat. Just wondering if I need to go further into capacitance, inductance, impedance, and reactance. Also, are there any other major calculations I need to be aware of? Range/Load calcs?

Any and all advice or time spent posting will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all...Great Forum!

All the test's are different.
When I got my masters it seemed like everything I focused on was not on the test. Be prepared for open book, closed book and calculations. I was most concerned with the calc's and that was the area that I did the best on.
Expect the unexpected.
Go to the test with a positive attitude. That you will pass the very first time. If you don't, you try again, and again until you get what you want.

I come from the old school, so I am not certain how the test's are done anymore.
When I took mine, it was an 8 hour exam. 150 miles from home.
Now I hear you can complete the test in 4 hours, and it is offered every Saturday, here in SC.

I am not familiar with the online test exam's........Good Luck

ps.....I hope you have been training on "How" to pass the test. Thats one formula you cannot do without.
