I know about the draw out breakers- but not everything 100% fuse. My plan is to mount the transformer protection (DTT and such) on the other side of the enclosure.

if you have all fuse protection what are tripping with the relaying?

The supply transformer's 34.5kv primary which is outside the 13.8kv gear. I want to avoid a separate control hut. Figure I might cram everything into one.

Unless the transformer primary gets fused also :p;)

I am so skinny I could put on 3 layers of PPE and still buckle a 30” belt on with 2 notches to spare for it tighten.

135 pounds with wet clothes, full sized boots, and a couple bricks in my pockets.

I do have a nasty bark though......

And your hair covers your eyes... I would imagine that would also be a challenge.

Slightly off topic, but it's interesting that I logged in with this question and the first post I saw was this one.

Some say walk-in metal-clad gear is better protected gear. Seems to me it's only a better protected user. The metal enclosure around the actual switchgear is the same.

So, why is walk-in gear a thing?

MV metal clad (walk-in) swgr is very common, especially at generation, industrial, and mining plants. Sometimes the walk-in includes extra space for a 2MVA xfmr, DC batteries, and additional racks for telecom, SCADA, or xfmr relaying. Walk-in style MV swgr is also preferred for spaced restricted subs or places where aesthetics are important. Disney World down in Orlando, Maui Hawaii, and the Big Island of Hawaii are examples.

Some of the advantages are smaller footprint and the ability to pre-fabricate.
