I am looking to wall mount some T5 HO raintite florescent fixtures horizontally. There is no way to install overhead lighting due to garage doors that open to within 4" of the ceiling. Any thoughts on the mounting height that would provide for the optimum performance? Fixtures are 4' and I wanted to use 3 of them per wall over a 23' distance.(Will be installing on 2 walls, room width is 12'. I'm looking to get about 100foot candles. The overall size of the room is 400 sq ft. Thanks much, any help appreciated.

T5HO are going to be bright to look at when they are mounted on the wall. When they are mounted on the ceiling, they are usually out of the direct line of sight.

For the brightest room, I would probably suggest mounting them halfway up the wall. But all in all, it would probably be much better to mount them much higher, so they are more out of the line of sight.

Hopefully they have a wide light distribution. Some of the high bays might have a distribution narrow enough to leave darker areas above and below the fixture.
