Anybody have a "standard height" that they set their 120V and CATV boxes at for wall mount TV? Customer tells me that they will be approx 11' away from the TV, I set the boxes at 76" C/L and they insist it is too high. Any thoughts. Thanks.

Ideally, seated eye height is even with 1/3 up from the bottom.

In other words, 1/3 of the image below the eyes, 2/3 of it above.

most of our customers request 6' to the center of the tv.

i've got mine around 42".

those installs above the fireplace are akin to sitting on the front row at the movie theater. people want what they see in magazines, not what's practical.

I have a 66" screen with seating at about 10' (2 recliners for me and the Mrs.)

room is 36' long with TV at one end and a bar at the other. Screen is high enough to be seen over the recliners. bar stools are 26' from the screen.

center of the wall behind the bar has mirror tile and I can sit at the bar with back to screen and see it all just find. ('cept they're running the other way).

I set up according to the second link.

We real home-theater people measure our screens in feet, not inches.

In our movie room, the picture is about 5'h x 8.5'w, about 10' diag, with the top of the image at about 1' from the 8' ceiling, and 2' from the floor.

We sit at typical sofa and recliner height, with our heads about 12 to 13' from the screen. I guess our picture is a bit too large for the experts. :)
