A customer is remodeling a residential kitchen and has purchased a wall oven rated @ 8.9 KW and a cooktop rated @ 7.4 KW, for a total of 16.3 KW. I am feeding them both with one circuit. According to 220-19, note 4, I can treat this total load as a single range. So looking note 1, I can use the 8 KW rating from column A for one range and add 5% for every KW or major fraction of a KW by which the load exceeds 12 KW. Since the load exceeds 12 KW by 4, (.3 is not a major fraction of one), this is 20%. 8 KW x 1.2 is 9.6 KW or 40 amps @ 240V. So am I correct this circuit can be sized at 40 amps?
