Is there anything in the code that says you can use a wall switch as a disconnect in a non-residence application?

Thanks in advance.

There is nothing that says you can't but as Chris has said it would depend on what it was controlling. I have used a dp 30 amp snap switch as a disco for a water heater.

cant help it dennis this disrupting thread thing is normal around here..kind of like disrupting a load with a switch..It can be done as long as the switch is listed for the use and can be locked out without using a portable lockout device if it is not with in site..Now back to dennis my address is 17118 and what does the red hair have to do with it..I will have to look up the code section for the switch thing if it is necessary..

I used a 3 way toggle switch as a transfer switch to switch line power and generator power for a boiler, Is that code compliant.;)

Wouldn't it have to be listed as suitable for service equipment?
