Residential application, not the only lighting outlet in the room:
What is NEC code when using a wall switch to dim a receptacle? Must have a "unique" receptacle to avoid plugging in an appliance? (IE Lutron receptacle) Different code for a recessed floor receptacle?

Yes you would need a special recep. ie Lutrons receptacle made for dimming. The floor outlet can be dimmed as long as you install the correct type of floor box that will accept two standard recep.

Also, if you dim the entire recep. , then that recep. will not count as the required recep. Lutron makes a half dimmable receptacle.

can afci be dimmed?

Continuing with dimming switched receptacles, can AFCI be dimmed?
And at exterior, can GFCI receptacles be dimmed?
