UL508A is about UL Listed control panel assemblies. Internal conductors means conductors that do no leave the box. There are different rules for conductors used INSIDE the UL listed assembly compared to those that the installing contractor uses to connect things to it. Those fall under the NEC. People are often confused when they see different sized conductors INSIDE of a UL508A listed panel compared to what they must use per the NEC for field wiring.
