I am purchasing a warehouse that has 3phase 400 amp service with a 400 amp fused disconnect where serviceenters the building. Then there is 500 mcm wire run 200' in conduit to theother side of warehouse to a trough (no disconnect). Can I tap a 200amp main breaker panel right next to this location? And then anotherset of taps to a 200 amp disconnect feeding another 200 amp main?lug? panel (no main breaker) 160' away?

NOT looking for wire sizing etc.... IWILL be hiring a professional electrician to do the work! Just tryingto see if this is a compliant design so I can get a handle onequipment cost.

The building previously had wires runfrom trough (no disconnect) back across the ceiling of the building(200') supplying large welders.

Thanks in advance!

Robert

There are exceptions that you can discuss with your electrical professional, but for the most part you can figure "taps" not exceeding 25 ft and terminating at a main overcurrent device.
