On a construction upgrade at work, the construction company wants a siren installed for emergency situations. I tried a 110 decibel siren that we already had from another site and they said it wasn't loud enough. Couldn't be heard over the machinery. Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a louder one for around $500?

You might try an emergency vehicle siren. A lot of them are rated 120dB at 10' or higher. You would need 12 power supply and they are directional so you may need one that supports multiple speakers. I think you can get them in the price range that you are looking at.

If machinery noise is a problem you might also have to install a visual type alarm also (strobes, rotating lights, etc) or if it's for a real type emergency you could set it up so that when the siren goes off that the machinery shuts down (some kind of shunt).

I bet it it was the break horn they'd hear it.

Sorry but thanks, Cowboy, I should have been more specific, the machinery is track hoes, bulldozers, etc.

Thanks Don I did a google search on "emergency vehicle siren" (instead of just emergency siren) and found some louder ones there. 130Db 120 V for $140 ! It is amazing what one little word will do in a search!

Oh, we are putting in a strobe too. But some of the workers are at least ? mile away!

Just got off the roof about 1 hour ago, 85? today, much hotter on the roof! We had 2 used 110 decibel sirens so I had to mount one on each end of the building. 280' of pipe, some real funky pipe bending to get around stuff. Sore knees from the rocks on the roof. They are happy now! Thanks for the help guy's! Miller time!
