Effective July 2005, Washington State stopped grandfathering master electricans (Journeyman and Adminstrator) and required an exam.
The pass rate for the Adminstrator exam has been 13%. Has anyone taken the Master and how did you do?
By the way, there is a proposal to change the exam passing score from 70 to 75% to maintain reciprocity with other states. Take your exams before the end of the year....

I took the test and on the third try for calculations passed the exam, The calculations part was worded very tricky and very unusual situations were presented. The NEC and WAC rules part was pretty straight forward if you had your books tabbed and outlined for easy and quick access.

Calculations has always been the hardest part. I passed the admin in 1994 with 70.7 % the first time. The old test used to be 7 questions, now its ten questions.

Passed my Admins. a while back. I found the Administrative and NEC section easy--passed with high scores the first try! But, the calculations section took me until the third try.

Happy to hear they are raising the standards.

Tom,

I tested in 1993 and passed my administrators. I already had my JW license from back in the 80's. Now that we're into a new century, Washington state has issued me a Masters License. It's due next year but am currently getting all my CEU's (per MHE) in line and would like to know if there are any "new surprises" lurking in the evergreen state?

I passed the second time around with an 86% for my overall score.

I took the General Master Exam yesterday. Results: Part 1 NEC - 95, Part 2 WAC/RCW 80, Part 3 Major Calcs - 30

I took the General Administrator Exam November '06. Results: Part 1 NEC - 98, Part 2 WAC/RCW 88, Part 3 Major Calcs - 90

The question I had in part 3 in November were the same as yesterday......ugh...... Now I am on a quest to find the secret decoder ring for the calcs that I've obviously lost since November

***Warning- Incoming Rant- Hide your children- You've been warned***
In November in had asked a Spokane LNI 'clerk' as to whether or not I could take the Master Exam, and was told no you must take Admin first. Took it and passed. Upon presenting the passing scores to the same desk (Spokane LNI) and was told by the next 'clerk' that I should have taken the Master so that I could have saved the time of filling in 2 licenses on paper work and having to take the Master exam later, saved money of the application and exam fees as well as time out of production to take the test and it would restart my CEU requirement clock...The moral of this rant, ask you question twice (preferably of two different people) and when dealing with WA LNI always ask your question twice and definitely of two different people.
***Rant concluded***
