Washington State electrical rule revision begins:

The State of Washington has announced a streamlined, fast-track process of electrical rule revisions for 2006. The electrical rules are contained in WAC 296-46B and may be viewed at the Department web site at http://www.lni.wa.gov/tradeslicensing/electrical. The timeline is driven by educational and scope of work changes contained in new legislation for 2006.

Proposals to the current rules will be accepted only between May 1 and May 15 of this year and must be submitted electronically using the form that will be available on the web site beginning on May 1. Proposals will not be accepted before or after those dates. The proposals will be heard by a Technical Advisory Board on June 7, and recommendations will be forwarded to the Department. Anticipated adoption and effective date of the new rules is November 2006.

Anyone wanting more information is encouraged to contact NEMA?s Western Field Representative, Joe Andre, at 425-415-7471 or pm Pierre

Moderators note:
I removed Joes email. Heres why. There are automatic bots that scan the internet for the @ email and use it to spam. It happened to my tom@ address. I had 40,000 emails for all kinds of medical products and other.

Yep this is the third year in a row Washington State will be changing the WAC rules.
We now have to get a 4 hours class on the WAC (state electrical rule) to renew. I am 100% in favor of this requirement, as few know the state rules, and knowing the rules can save you hundreds $$$.
We now can wire a entire hotel for "low voltage" with a $10 class B permit, which is for 3 wire nut simple work, and is random inspected.
Of course as an instructor its hard to keep up.
I have researched the state laws and rules all the way back to 1919.
I am considering writing a text on Understanding Washinton State electrical laws and rules.
