Aloha to this Incredible Forum!!

Not quite an "FNG", but haven't come across anything like this yet.

Can anyone tell us what vintage this is and - before I start yankin it out - if there is any info on what it is and what lies inside. Looked everywhere to find an exploded or whatever. House built 1937. Just a few years before my time ;)

Yeah, I knew that was really old mold. What I was wondering is about the outlet. Neva see one like dat. Figured some of the "old timers" here could tell me what vintage. Not even sure how to get into it/remove it. Home owner wanted to actually have it converted to 3 wire system without having to recess it.

Mahalo (er, Thank you very much) Hurk! Well, thats what I had tried first. Screw comes off (on some of them - most of them are as if they haven't come off since 1937 and they don't budge. I'll probably end up drilling da buggas out) and i tried to pry but it didn't want to play. I didn't try all that hard but since thats what you are suggesting, i'll try harder - like Avis.

Thanks Again!

Anyone else know what year I'm dealing with here?

Re: Wat Dis?!

welcome to hawaii! i spent time there while in the service--rented a nice house right on the kamama highway in kaneohi--- their construction is different than here on the mainland!!! first time i noticed is after i had hung some pictures and was outside in the yard. thought they were bugs??? it was the nails from hanging the pictures!!! inside walls are---the outside walls!! no framing!! so now consider how you wire this situation. romex through the attic and wirmold down to each outlet. attic looks like a rat's nest!!! and i only looked in the attic one time---found most of the romex's insulation(tar paper type) was ate off by mice for nest material in the soffets--lots of bare copper!! and at the time this house was not that old. the inside walls are the same ---one thickness----well made and good craftsmenship, just a different type construction!!! aloha

Aloha a nui loa Sir!! No probs. Well, born Moloka'i, around Kaunakakai (you know, Home of the Great Moloka'i bread from Kanemitsu's Bakery :) and still no moa stop light). Now I stay where Mr. Tuna spoke so highly of our famous single wall construction ;) Kaneohe side. So I guess the "Mac" in yer handle is for Macademia?! ;) Da buggas can get plenty big around certain parts of Hawai'i. Right macmikeman?!

Sorry for being so lolo about the old outlets. Even da boss didn't know. Tried to get some inside and impress 'em and handle myself. Thanks for whatever help you can give!!
