1) Do water fountains need to be on a GFI circuit or receptacle (if plug-in type)? Ex: a water fountain near the pool area.

2) For hi-rise buildings: Are GFI receptacles required for the electrical/mechanical rooms, ex: Main electrical room, pump room, generator room, etc?

3) Do public bathrooms, say in a Gym, in a high rise bldg, require a receptacle?

4) Do main electrical rooms, meter rooms, etc require a:

a) door sign saying ?no storage, name of room?,

b) Ventillation,

c) Automatic door closure?

1) maybe
2) no
3) no
4) no to all
Note these are based on the NEC, there may be building codes that would change the answers to #4.

Re: Water Fountains, Elec Rm Doors, Restrooms,

I do not have my 2002 code book available right now but for 4a I do believe a warning sign is required in my 1993 code book it is article 230-203 for 600volts or more. you may also take into consideration local fire codes that may require it even if the nec does not

The only warning signs for electrical rooms that I can think of in the NEC apply to rooms where there are exposed live parts.
